How long have you been in business?

Country Doctor Community Clinic was founded in 1971 by community activists.  Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center was initially a medical program that was started by the Seattle Black Panthers in 1968 and became a freestanding community clinic in 1978.  Country Doctor and Carolyn Downs merged into one corporation in 1988.

Where do you get your funding?

Funds are received by billing insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid; sliding scale cash payments from uninsured patients; donations from individuals and grants from public and private sources.

Who is on your Board?

51% of the Board are clinic patients.  The other Board members represent various segments of the community.  Board Members bring a variety of skills (legal, medical, fundraising, health planning and administration) to the Board.
